Worship at Ascension

Ascension's Response to the Coronavirus

Our Diocese (SW Florida) has adopted the protocols of the ERD (Episcopal Relief & Development), the CDC (Center for Disease Control), and WHO (World Health Organization).

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  • Stay home when you are sick or caring for someone who is sick. However, if you are well please join us for worship.

  • Use the sanitizer and wipes provided at the church entrances to clean your hands and the area around you.

  • The entire church and the altar area are being wiped down with sanitizer prior to every worship service.

  • The priests sanitize their hands prior to worship and prior to communion.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

  • Sharing the Peace: waving or a fist bump is perfectly acceptable in place of shaking hands or hugging.

  • Communion: You may abstain from communion or receive only the bread; use of the silver common cup with purificator presents relatively low risk; intinction will not be offered.

Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.

Facemasks should be used only by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. Sing a verse of Amazing Grace while you wash; it's 20 seconds!

We believe we are called to regular worship as a heart-felt offering of prayer and praise to God. Whether the setting is traditional or contemporary, worship is a sacred time set apart for us to be renewed in God's presence.

Every Sunday morning we have Nursery Care for young children available from 7:45am until 11:30am for parents attending worship and Christian education. Our nursery attendants are all trained and certified by Pinellas County School System and we follow every protocol for cleanliness and sanitation for the health and welfare of your children.
